Battery systems
Battery systems are a great way of making the most of your solar generation system and can be retro fitted to any PV system already installed. They will work alongside most FIT meters and won’t affect your ongoing tariff.
Battery systems can be used with ‘off peak hours’ tariffs - also known as ‘Economy 7’ and ‘Economy 10’. The batteries can be charged at the lower rate during off peak hours and discharge at on peak times making the most of the cheaper rate. This can also bring your ECP rating down on your property or rental property.
Additional Battery
If you’ve already got a battery system in place and still find yourself exporting and importing from the grid, you could upgrade your current system by adding an additional battery. You can add an additional battery to most systems allowing you to increase storage and make your existing system more efficient.

Immersion control
Immersion control is not a new - it’s been around for years, mostly in properties with Economy 7 and 10 and also with PV systems. Immersion controls are great if your system is generating excess PV and you want to use it so it doesn’t get sent back to the grid – to get your hot water for free effectively.
Nowadays, these controls are so advanced that if you do have an ‘off peak hours’ tariff, the system can heat from PV alongside cheaper rates from the grid if needed - most come with an app so it can be customised to suit your individual requirements.
